Party alert: This spicy snack is perfect with chilled sparkling wine or ice-cold beer.

1 cup packed light brown sugar
1 egg , beaten
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 cup chopped pecans

1 tablespoon light corn syrup
2 tablespoons water or milk
food coloring
1 teaspoon vanilla

DIRECTIONS

Stir sugar, corn syrup, vanilla and the milk together.
Stir in food coloring a few drops at a time until you reach the color desired.
