1 teaspoon salt

Saffron Rice

INGREDIENTS

8 tablespoons butter
1 cup finely chopped onions
4 cups water
4 teaspoons chicken base
fresh ground black pepper
8 saffron threads (optional)
2 cups short-grain rice , rinsed
1 cup chopped thin green beans
1 cup frozen peas

DIRECTIONS

Preheat oven to 375°F.
Melt butter in a saucepan.
Add onion and cook until softened.
Add water and chicken base (4 cups chicken stock may be substituted).
Add pepper or saffron.
Stir.
Bring to a boil.
