INGREDIENTS

1 cup shortening
3/4 cup brown sugar
3/4 cup granulated sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon baking soda , dissolved in
1 teaspoon hot water
1 1/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon salt
