Healthy Homemade Ranch Dressing

INGREDIENTS

1/2 cup nonfat plain yogurt
1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
3 tablespoons mayonnaise (real is best)
1/3 cup low-fat buttermilk
1 1/2 teaspoons lemon juice (fresh is best)
1 tablespoon chives , chopped
1/4 teaspoon salt (or to taste)

DIRECTIONS

Whisk all ingredients until smooth and creamy.
Refrigerate to bring the flavors together.

Homemade Marshmallow Cream

INGREDIENTS

3 large egg whites
1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
1/3 cup water
3/4 cup light corn syrup
2/3 cup granulated sugar
1/2 tablespoon vanilla extract

DIRECTIONS

In a glass or metal bowl, beat the egg whites and cream of tartar with electric beaters on high, until light and foamy.

Homemade Baked Beans

INGREDIENTS

2 lbs dried navy beans (4 cups)
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 medium onion
1/2 lb bacon
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/2-2/3 cup molasses
2 teaspoons dry mustard
1/2 teaspoon salt

DIRECTIONS

Soak beans overnight in cold water (enough to cover the beans).

In the morning, pour off water and boil beans with baking soda in water until skins crack when blown upon.

Homemade Pop-Tarts

INGREDIENTS

1refrigerated pie crust
jellyor jam (strawberry, raspberry, etc.)

DIRECTIONS

Roll out pie dough and cut into rectangles.

Spread jam on half of them, leaving one-half inch or so on edges without jam.

Cover with another rectange.

Crimp edges with a fork.

Bake until pie dough is done (follow instructions on package).

Glaze with powdered sugar and milk or eat plain.

Homemade Cheese Ball

INGREDIENTS

1 (16ounce)package Velveeta Mexican cheese
1 (8ounce) light cream cheese
1 ounce sliced almonds (optional)
Ritz crackers

DIRECTIONS

Let the cream cheese and Velveeta come to room temperature.
Mix the cream cheese and Velveeta together with a mixer. (It is easier to chop up the velveeta before this step.).
Let chill for 1 hour.
Form cheese into ball and cover with almonds.
Cover and store in refigerator until served.
Serve with crackers.
