Red Lobster’s Batter-Fried Shrimp

INGREDIENTS

1/2 lb shrimp , peeled and deveined
1/2 cup oil
1 egg , beaten
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup milk
3/4 teaspoon seasoning salt
1/4 teaspoon salt

2 quarts Oil for deep frying.
Preheat oil to 350 degrees. Combine ½ cup oil and egg; beat well. Add remaining ingredients except oil for frying and stir until well blended.

Deep Fried Pickles

INGREDIENTS

2 dill pickles
1 cup flour
1/4 cup cornstarch
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking powder
1egg yolk
2 tablespoons pickle juice
1 cup ice water
ranch dressing, for dipping

DIRECTIONS

Mix flour, corn starch, salt, baking powder, egg yolk, pickle juice and ice water in a bowl.
Drop pickles into batter mix and then place in canola oil heated at 350 degrees. (You can also use vegetable or peanut oil).
Serve with ranch dressing.

Grandma Addie’s Fried Corn

INGREDIENTS

1 (15ounce)can canned corn niblets
1 tablespoon unsalted butter
2 ounces cream cheese (Philadelphia, of course)

DIRECTIONS

Sizzle everything in a pan until the butter and cream cheese melt together and the corn is hot.
Salt and pepper to taste.

Chicken Fried Chicken

INGREDIENTS

6 boneless chicken breasts
1 egg
1/2 cup milk
1 1/2 cups flour
1/4 cup cooking oil
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1/4 teaspoon paprika
gravy
4 tablespoons oil, should be from cooked chicken
6 tablespoons flour
1 1/2 cups milk
1 1/2 cups water

DIRECTIONS

Chicken.
Beat together egg, milk and set aside.
Mix together salt, pepper, paprika and sprinkle on both sides of chicken.
Dredge chicken in the flour, shaking off excess.
Dip each piece of chicken in the egg mixture, then back into the flour.

Fried Okra

INGREDIENTS

1 cup buttermilk
1 egg
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt

DIRECTIONS

Wash and trim okra and slice 1/2inch thick.

Heat oil in deep fryer or skillet to 350.

Mix buttermilk and egg together.

Mix flour and salt together.
Dip the okra into buttermilk and egg mixture, then the flour mixture.
Deep fry until golden brown, about three minutes. Let drain on paper towels.
