INGREDIENTS

1 cup unsalted butter
1 cup solid-type firm margarine
1 cup granulated sugar
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 dash salt , helps bring out flavours (optional)
1 egg , separated
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 tablespoon cold milk

DIRECTIONS

Cream the room temperature but not too soft butter and margarine together with the sugarusing awooden spoon.

Rhubarb Ketchup 1973

INGREDIENTS

1 quart stewed rhubarb
1 quart chopped white onions
1 quart white vinegar
3 cups brown sugar
1 tablespoon salt
2 tablespoons pickling spices

DIRECTIONS

First of all you can use a little less brown sugar if desired depending on the tartness of your rhubarb, and anywhere from 1 1/2 tablespoons to 3 tablespoons of mixed spices or pickling spices.
