4 cooking apples , washed and cored
8 tablespoons brown sugar
1 teaspoon butter
1/4-1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

INGREDIENTS

1 (10 1/2ounce)package frozen lima beans
1 teaspoon dry mustard
1 teaspoon sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons kerry irish gold unsalted butter , melted
1 teaspoon lemon juice

DIRECTIONS

Cook beans as directed on the package with mustard, sugar and salt [or steam with mustard, sugar and salt sprinkled over the beans.

Drain.

Mix in butter and lemon juice.

Serve immediately, garnished with a half-slice of lemon.

Betty Crocker 1950s Welsh Rarebit

INGREDIENTS

2 cups grated sharp cheddar cheese (about 1/2 lb)
2/3 cup milk
1/4 teaspoon dry mustard
1/4 teaspoon worcestershire sauce
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper

DIRECTIONS

Melt cheese in a metal bowl over a pot of hot water.

Gradually add the milk and stir until smooth.

Blend in seasonings.

Serve on crisp crackers, toast or potato chips.

INGREDIENTS

2 ounces unsweetened chocolate squares
1/2 cup butter
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup flour , sifted
1/2 cup walnuts , chopped

DIRECTIONS

Melt chocolate in a metal bowl placed over hot water.
Thoroughly cream butter and sugar.
Add eggs and beat well.
Blend in melted chocolate, vanilla and flour.
Mix nuts into batter, or sprinkle them over the top after batter is poured into the pan.

1/3 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
3/4 cup sifted flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
