INGREDIENTS

  • 1/4 cup butter or margarine
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk baking mix
  • 1/2 cup cornmeal
  • 1/4 cup water
  • salt

DIRECTIONS

  1. Heat oven to 450 degrees.
  2. In oven, melt butter in baking pan, 9×9x2 inches.
  3. Stir baking mix, cornmeal and water with fork to soft dough.
  4. Turn onto floured cloth-coverred board; smooth dough into ball and knead 5 times.
  5. Roll into rectangle, 6×4 inches.
  6. Cut into 8 strips, 4×1/4 inch.
  7. Dip each strip into melted butter, coating all sides, and arrange in pan.
  8. Sprinkle salt lightly on strips.
  9. Bake until golden brown, 12 to 15 minutes.
  10. Serve hot.
