INGREDIENTS
- 1 lb pinto beans
- 3 quarts water
- 1/2 lb salt pork , cut up
- 1 medium onion , chopped
- 1 minced garlic clove
- 6 ounces tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1/2 teaspoon marjoram
DIRECTIONS
- Wash beans. Place beans in large pot cover with cold water and soak overnight.
- When ready to cook bring beans to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer 1 hour.
- Stir in remaining ingredients cover and simmer 3 hours or till beans are tender.
- Add more water if necessary.
