INGREDIENTS
- 1 1/4 cups warm water , divided
- 1 cup quick oats , divided
- 1 teaspoon quick oats
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 2 1/4 teaspoons yeast
- 3 cups flour
- 3/4 cup onions , minced
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 teaspoon salt
- cooking spray
DIRECTIONS
- Combine 1 cup of water, 1/2 cup oats, and brown sugar in a small bowl.
- In a separate bowl, dissolve yeast in 1/4 cup of water; let stand 5 minutes.
- Add oat mixture, flour, 1/2 cup oats, onion, oil, and salt.
- Stir until well blended. Mixture will be stiff.
- Cover and let rise until double in size (about 45 minutes).
- Stir down batter and spoon into loaf pan that has been sprayed with cooking spray.
- Sprinkle with 1 teaspoon of oats.
- Cover and let rise until double (about 30 minutes).
- Bake at 375 degrees for 50 minutes.
