INGREDIENTS

  • 1 cup shortening or margarine
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 egg (beaten)
  • 1 cup coconut
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 cup walnuts , chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1 egg

DIRECTIONS

  1. Cream shortening. Add sugar and egg.
  2. Sift dry ingredients.
  3. Add alternately with coconut and walnuts.
  4. Bake 350°F for 10-12 minutes or until brown.
