INGREDIENTS

  • 1 cup shortening
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 3 cups instant oats
  • 1 cup dried cranberries
  • 1 cup white chocolate chips
  • 1 cup nuts (replacement for one of the add-ins above) (optional)

DIRECTIONS

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Cream shortening & sugars.
  3. Blend in eggs & vanilla.
  4. Sift in flour, salt & soda.
  5. Fold into creamed mixture along with oats, cranberries, & chocolate chips (or other optional ingredients).
  6. Roll into balls & place on greased cookie sheet.
  7. Flatten with fork.
  8. Bake 10-12 minutes (less for dark cookie sheets).
